I took this picture in 2009 when I went fishing with my friends in a remote place in the mountains, close to my hometown in Romania. What first seemed to be a dog sleeping in the river bank was actually a corpse of a dog decomposing in the water. It gave me a strange feeling, seeing a dead body. The sight was unpleasant. However, after 3 or 4 minutes of looking at the dead dog in the small river, death seemed like something pure: the dog wasn’t killed, he didn’t stink, the water washing over him cleaned his body. Nature always provides a way of transcendental experience and reflection.
